Materials:
  • scissors
  • lamination pockets (optional)
  • PDF printable below
How to play:

It's best to prepare these beforehand and have them ready for each ESL class you have. Laminate them for durability and use and re-use them over and over. I've also included the black and white version of these so you could totally print them on coloured paper and use them!

Have the students match the base verb card to the past tense verb card along with the sentence cards too. On the recording sheet, have the students record the verbs and then write new sentences.

Differentiating this activity is easy

If you find that some students need more support, have them join two other students who are more likely to help them throughout the game. I would also get those students to write the sentences along with the verbs for further practice.
